Mondays

I think Mondays are the hardest right now. Fridays are tough because you're approaching a "no news" time but then you spend so much timing anticipating Monday that you build it up. And for no real reason, it's just another day. You just have more time to anticipate it and then when there's no news on Monday I cry. The rest of the week I do a lot better with no news, Mondays I cry - for 3 weeks in a row (OK, last week it was Tuesday b/c Monday was a holiday).

Sorry this isn't a very uplifting post. I'm so happy for so many of you, I'm just having a tough day.

  1. I used to hate Mondays. I figured that the chance of a referral on Monday was greater because S. is out of the office on Fridays. I actually loved weekends. To me it was such a relief to not stress about whether or not the phone would ring that day.

  2. Keep your chin up, Chris! I know I can't even begin to relate to how difficult this has to be for you guys, but I hope that the number of prayers you have going for you guys across the US helps some. We may not always understand them, but god has his ways of making sure that our lives turn out as he intended. He will make sure that you get your call, but only when he knows that your child (and your family) is in the best possible position to ensure a happy lifetime. I know it is hard, but he's got great things in store for you- I"m sure of it!

We all love you guys. Take care and don't let the waiting get you too down. Please call if you want somebody to talk to... that's what friends are for.

  3. I never waited for that referral call, so I can't know what it's like, but I waited for a lot of other calls throughout the adoption process and I know the strain it puts on you.

  4. I get it. I have huge expectations for Mondays and most of the time I'm disappointed. The adoption process is tough! Lots of ups and downs. Praying for good news for you. SOON!!!

  8. Praying for you that you hear news soon. It's a hard, up and down, roller coaster ride. I never believed any of my friends when they said I would forget the pain, stress, anxiety etc when it was all over and we finally had our daughter in our arms. I didn't believe them for the last 18 months as we kept pushing along but after 18 months we're finally in country, past court and in 2 days the court order will be in affect, in 3 days we'll have her new birth certificate saying that we're her Mommy and Daddy and in 4 days I'll get to bring her to the hotel with me!! It's worth it, I haven't forgotten the stress, but the stress and anxiety of those 18 months seem so much easier and less stressful now. It's all worth it in the end. Praying for you that this road will "curve" for you soon and that as soon as you round that bend you'll see a picture of your son and have his referral!!!

  10. Not knowing is so hard...no news is so hard. But hey, your doing better than us! You at least know the country!!!! My daughter could be anywhere (which, in truth, is sort of fun because its like some massive God puzzle we have to figure out). Just know you are in our prayers and we will keep praying until your day of "news" comes, and its the news you've been waiting for...and the tears are tears of joy.

  11. Man, I hate this for you guys. I know Mondays are incredibly hard when you are trying to wait patiently for news. Every Monday I have so much hope for some good news as well. Doesn't that mean that we will be unexpectantly surprised when our good news happens later in the week?! Prayers lady. I hope this wait is not too much longer for you.
